Name of Restaurant: Sirros
Location of Restaurant: Merchant St., Ste. Genevieve, MO
Date of Visit: August 2, 2006

When first entering Sirros, I knew it was going to be another tight fit. The main room is not large at all, there were only about seven tables for groups of four or less. I am told they have another room for seating but it must have been reserved or something, because we never saw evidence of that. During the course of the meal, I was quite uncomfortable, feeling as if I was sitting out in the middle of the room (my chair was directed out this way).

Water Over Road Orris

We were not sitting very long at all when the waitress came for our drink order – this was very nice. She brought us the drinks but we weren’t yet ready to order. By her third trip, we were. My husband and I both ordered the Super Sirro Burger, only he got cole slaw instead of fries and half an order of onion rings. I settled for the french fries. For our toddler, we ordered a kid’s chicken strip meal with fries.

It seemed like we waited a long time for our food. Our son started to get very grumpy and kept trying to leave until another waitress brought him a coloring sheet and three crayons. This distracted him for all of five minutes.

Super Sirro Burger When our food finally arrived, I was famished. But it was all very much worth the wait. Our burgers were not some processed-crap-soy-meat, they were real hamburger – and fresh, too. And the french fries were marvelous, even our son ate most of his. I tried his chicken, as well, it was also very fresh and not very processed. The breading on it was light, it almost seemed as if there wasn’t any – it was 97% chicken. And as for the onion rings? Apparently a half an order at Sirros equals about five orders at other places. There were so many onion rings – very delicious onion rings (says the person who does not like onion very much) – that my husband had to get a to-go box for them.

Overall, it was a good experience. My only complaint would be the lack of room and the general layout of the tables, but, again, I suppose they usually have more room than they do on the night we visited.

I actually live in Ste. Genevieve and work with Todd Jordan (who I see is featured heavily on this site). Sirros is a nice little bar and grill that was added onto the Orris in the late 80s, if memory serves me. The Orris is the large bar area, which is where the extra seating you mentioned is. I prefer the ambience of the smaller area when eating and it’s actually quite nice when it’s not too busy. Very good location in beautiful downtown Ste. Genevieve. They’ll stick you in the Orris when Sirros is full or if they don’t have room for your party. Eating in the Orris…not quite as nice. It’s like eating in an empty bar. Wait…that’s just what you’re doing.

If I remember correctly I think their prices are very reasonable when compared with restaurants up north. I’ve had good and bad experiences with the food. Be safe and stick with their “samiches” or pizza when eating there. We’ll regularly eat their thin crust pizza before going to Pizza Hut.

I should note that my little sister is actually a waitress at Sirros. So if you end up with a 19ish small blonde girl named Nicole as a waitress tip her well. :)

hello, i actually work at Sirros.. i agree the layout can be a bit tight especially the back tables, but as Scott said we do have seating in the Orris bar but it isnt as nice, it is however pretty handy if you are having a party though and when we have bands at the Orris. I do work with his lil sis Nicole, she is great. Our Onion rings are very popular and one of my favorite things there… and i have to say that we do in fact have some of the best servers ever… hehehehe. I am glad that overall you had a good experience. I hope you come back. Ask for Cynthia, she is the most fun!!

Since I moved to Ste. Gen I have visited Sirros many times, I have found that they have excellent food, the burgers are great, the chicken is good, the fries are tasty and the service and hospitality is above average. Out of the ten or so times I’ve visited there I have never been disappointed. The dining room is small, but has a cosy and friendly atmosphere to it. They have a very good thing going there, although I would like to see steak featured on the menu.

I ate at your restaurant for the first time and it had a very cozy atmosphere. I was very impressed with one of your waitresses, Lauren. She was very friendly and was a great ambassador for your restaurant. After speaking with her, I found out she to use to be a native of St. Louis.
I’m sure my family will be back to visit your restaurant and town. You also have a beautiful state park located not to far from your restaurant.
And please give my regards to Lauren.

    Yours Truly,
    Dave Stayton
